ATIPCO, language professionals' regulatory in DRC
The Democratic Republic of Congo is a crossroads where several interests attracting public and private entities from diverse nationalities converge. Given such a shred of indisputable evidence, language professionals came together to set up a body responsible for regulating the country's translation, interpreting, or inter-linguistic communication sector.
The Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters of Congo is a non-profit association, under Congolese law, established in Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo, following the laws laying down the general provisions applicable to non-profit associations in force (see Article 1, ATIPCO Statutes). It is professional, scientific, and apolitical, created for an unlimited period. It aims to evolve until it secures the creation of a National Association for Professional Translators and Interpreters of the Congo.
Following article 2 of our statutes, ATIPCO is headquartered in Kinshasa, at the School of Translation and Interpreting, within the Université Pédagogique Nationale/ National Pedagogical University. It can be transferred to any other place in the country upon decision by the General Assembly of the Association.
ATPCO's activities extend throughout the DRC with the possibility of opening other representation offices inside the DRC and overseas.
